Veena George - Politician, Journalist

Veena George (born 3 August 1976) is the health minister of Kerala and an Indian politician of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), represents Aranmula constituency in the Kerala Legislative Assembly. Prior to joining politics, she has worked with major Malayalam news channels for over 16 years. She is also the first female executive editor among Malayalam news channels.

Television career
Veena George began her career at Kairali TV as a journalist trainee. She left Kairali TV and joined Manorama News as a news anchor. At Manorama News she was also in charge of programmes named Pularvela and Ee lokham etc. Later she was associated with Malayalam news channels Indiavision , Reporter TV and TV New. At Indiavision she was the chief news editor. She joined TV New in February 2015 as the Executive Editor. 

Politics
Veena George was nominated as the candidate for Aranmula constituency by CPI(M) for 2016 Kerala Assembly Elections,[5] and was elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly by defeating congress veteran K Sivadasan Nair of Indian National Congress by a margin of 7646 votes. 

In 2019 Indian general election, she contested from Pathanamthitta (Lok Sabha constituency) as Left front candidate (LDF). However she lost the election by a margin of 44,243 votes to Anto Antony of Indian National Congress.In 2021 she was elected to Kerala legislative assembly again from Aranmula constituency by defeating Adv K Sivadasan Nair of Indian National Congress by a margin of 19003 votes and became the Minister of Health and Social welfare( Succeeding K.K Shailaja ) in Pinarayi Vijayan Cabinet 2021 .

Antony Raju
Antony Raju (born 18 November 1954) is a minister of second Pinarayi Vijayan ministry of Kerala belongs to Janadhipathya Kerala Congress. He is a member of Kerala legislative assembly from Thiruvananthapuram Constituency of Kerala from 2021 onwards. Earlier he was the MLA of Thiruvananthapuram West Constituency from 1996 - 2001.

Early life and education
He was born on 18 November 1954 in Poonthura, Trivandrum to Smt. Lourdamma and Late Mr. S. Alphonse. He had his early education in St. Thomas School Poonthura, Trivandrum and completed his schooling in Rajagiri School, Kalamassery, Ernakulam.[2] He completed his pre-degree from St.Xavier's College, Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram. And degree from Mar Ivanious College. He graduated in law from Law College, Thriruvanathapuram.

Political career
In 1996, Antony Raju was KC(J) candidate and contested for LDF it was Antony's first political victory in Assembly Election from Trivandrum West Constituency. However 2016 elections he contested as Janadhipathya Kerala Congress candidate but lost to VS Sivakumar. But in the 2021 elections, he defeated VS Sivakumar with more than 8000 votes.
