Palamel
Palamel is a village in Alappuzha district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is located 10km south to pandalam. As of 2001 India census, Palamel had a population of 31916 with 15112 males and 16804 females. Palamel is bordering with Pandalam, Chunakkara, Nooranad and Thamarakkulam panchayaths. Palamel is part of the Onattukara cultural region. Kettu Kazhcha - a procession of two huge oxen is carried out here as part of the Padanilam Parabrahma Temple Sivarathri festival.
The Karingalichal Lake and puncha are situated near Palamel. It is part of Upper Kuttanad and lies in the Drainage basin of Achankovil river.

P. Prasad
P. Prasad is an Indian politician social worker and environmentalist from Kerala. He currently serves as the MLA of Cherthala constituency since May 2021 and Minister designate of new cabinet of Kerala State swearing in by 20th of May 2021 . He is state executive committee member of Communist Party of India.
Personal Life
P. Prasad was born in 1969 as the son of G Parameswaran Nair and Gomatiamma at Palamel, Nooranad, Alappuzha district. His father Parameswaran Nair was an AITUC leader and a member of the CPI Alappuzha District Council. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from N. S. S. College, Pandalam in 1989. He has a wife named Lyni and two children named Bhagat and Aruna Almitra.
Political Career
P Prasad started his public career through the All India Students Federation. While studying at Nooranad CBM High School, he became the AISF Taluk President. He also served as the AISF Unit Secretary of N. S. S. College, Pandalam. He has also served as AISF State President, AIYF State Executive Member, CPI Pathanamthitta district Secretary, All India Adivasi Mahasabha National Executive Member and University of Kerala Senate Member.
