Elamkulam

Elamkulam is a village in Perinthalmanna taluk of Malappuram district in Kerala state. It is located at 10°54′0″N 76°13′0″E.

Elamkulam village connects to other parts of India through Perinthalmanna town. National highway No. 66 passes through Tirur and the northern stretch connects to Goa and Mumbai. The southern stretch connects to Cochin and Trivandrum. Highway No. 966 goes to Palakkad and Coimbatore. The nearest airport is at Kozhikode. The nearest railway station is at Cherukara.

Elamkulam Manakkal Sankaran Namboodiripad (13 June 1909 – 19 March 1998), popularly EMS, was an Indian communist politician and theorist, who served as the first Chief Minister of Kerala in 1957–59 and then again in 1967–69. As a member of the Communist Party of India (CPI), he became the first non-Indian National Congress chief minister in the Indian republic. In 1964, he led a faction of the CPI that broke away to form the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)). He completed his graduation from St. Thomas College, Thrissur.
